The Asics Gel-1130 is a shoe that pays homage to the past but also embraces the present and future.

I remember seeing the Asics Gel-Kayano 14 back in the day, which was the inspiration for the Gel-1000 series, and thinking how cool and futuristic they looked, so I was quite stoked to see how Asics would reinterpret that design for the modern era.

The Asics Gel-1130 preserves the heritage upper design language from 2008, featuring synthetic leather overlays and mesh underlays.

However, it also updates the shoe with a more modern aesthetic and performance. The synthetic leather overlays and mesh underlays give the shoe a nice texture and contrast. The main upper material is made from recycled materials, which we can all appreciate. The sock liner is dope dyed, which means that it uses less water and carbon emissions than conventional dyeing methods.

The shoe also features the signature Asics Gel technology cushioning in the heel, which provides excellent shock absorption and comfort.
